Oviedo’s Independence Celebration on Saturday, July 4 is a family-friendly community event beginning at 7:00 PM with a re-enactment of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Fireworks launch at 8:00 PM — one of the earliest showtimes in Central Florida, making it a great option if you want to be home early or catch a second show elsewhere. The city bills this as Central Florida’s largest fireworks display. Free admission.
The festivities include food and beverages available for purchase, live music, and a kids’ zone throughout the evening.

Oviedo has one of Seminole County’s most walkable small downtowns and several outdoor destinations worth exploring before the early 8:00 PM fireworks at Oviedo Mall.
- Downtown Oviedo — The small historic downtown along Broadway Street has local cafés, boutiques, and restaurants in a low-key, walkable setting. It’s a welcome contrast to the theme park corridor and is just minutes from the event venue at Oviedo Mall.
- Black Hammock Adventures — Airboat tours on Lake Jesup, one of Central Florida’s most active alligator habitats. A 45-minute narrated tour departs from the Fish Camp on Black Hammock Island — book ahead for July 4th weekend. The waterfront restaurant and bar on-site is also a good lunch stop.
- Oviedo on the Park — A walkable mixed-use development around Riverside Park with restaurants, a splash pad, and a community town green. One of the better family afternoon destinations in Seminole County for burning off energy before the evening event.
- Cross Seminole Trail — A paved multi-use trail connecting Oviedo, Winter Springs, and Casselberry through wooded stretches and along the Little Wekiva River. A morning bike ride here is one of the best ways to start the day before the afternoon heat peaks.
- Dining near Oviedo Mall — The Oviedo Marketplace area surrounding the fireworks venue has a full range of options for lunch or an early dinner: Mitchell’s Fish Market, Lazy Moon Pizza, Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, and BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse are all within a few minutes of the event.
