Winter Garden Guide

Winter Garden’s Plant Street Historic District is one of the most walkable and rewarding downtowns in Central Florida — well-shaded, full of local character, and worth an extended afternoon visit before the 9:15 PM fireworks over Lake Apopka.

  • Plant Street Historic Downtown — The seven-block historic corridor is lined with local boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and specialty shops in beautifully preserved early 20th-century commercial buildings. The West Orange Saturday Farmers Market and a strong independent restaurant scene make downtown Winter Garden one of the best daytime stops in the region before an evening fireworks show.
  • West Orange Trail — A 22-mile paved multi-use trail running through the heart of downtown Winter Garden, passing through citrus groves and connecting to Clermont and Apopka. Bike rentals are available from outfitters along Plant Street — a morning ride is the best way to start the day before the afternoon heat builds.
  • Crooked Can Brewing Company — Located inside the Plant Street Market food hall, Crooked Can is one of Central Florida’s most popular craft breweries. The Market also has a butcher, specialty vendors, and a chocolatier — a walkable lunch stop before exploring the rest of Plant Street.
  • Garden Theatre — A restored 1935 Art Deco theater in downtown Winter Garden that occasionally hosts July 4th weekend performances. Check their schedule — if a show is running, it’s one of the best air-conditioned afternoon options in the area before the evening fireworks over Lake Apopka.
  • Newton Park — The fireworks launch from Newton Park on the shores of Lake Apopka. Arrive in the late afternoon to walk the lakefront, set up your spot, and enjoy the park before the 6:00 PM festivities begin with games, vendors, and entertainment leading up to the 9:15 PM fireworks.
